Incremental Hyper-V Backup

YKP Systems now supports incremental backups of Hyper-V Virtual Machines on Hyper-V 2012 and Hyper-V 2016. Now you can run agentless VM level backups on Hyper-V virtual machines, resulting in less data usage and shorter backup windows. This update offers reliable incremental backup jobs to granular item recovery pools for virtual machines under Microsoft Hyper-V.

Hyper-V Cluster support

Virtual machines that are set up as a cluster (CSV Volume) can be backed up from any cluster node to conveniently generate a cluster-wide snapshot, capturing the entire CSV. In this case, the other Hyper-V cluster nodes continue to run with full performance and are not affected by the backup. Virtual machine live-migration allows you to move an entire virtual machine from one physical server to another without experiencing downtime.

Yes, YKP Systems DataCenter software supports Microsoft Hyper-V Snapshots.

Can I restore single files from within the virtual machine without restoring the entire VM?

Yes, YKP Systems software support granular recovery (single file restore) from within VMware and Hyper-V snapshot backups without the need to mount or restore the entire VM.

Can you exclude disks in a VM to backup to?

YKP Systems DataCenter does have the option to exclude disks in your VM backup.

YKP Systems xSP creates a snapshot of the entire VM, and is unable to exclude mounted disks from being backed up.

What versions of Hyper-V do you support?

Windows Hyper-V Server 2012 R2
Windows Hyper-V Server 2016

Can you restore single files from a VM backup?

Yes, there is granular restore capability from VM backups created from the Virtual Dashboard.

Can you do incremental/differential backups of a VM?

Microsoft Hyper-V does not currently have the ability to perform incremental/differential backups of VMs.

YKP Systems DataCenter does support incremental backup on Hyper-V 2012 R2 and 2016 with some restrictions.
